Degree Types (Bologna System)

Bachelor’s Degree: 6 semesters, 180 credits, awarded Bachelor of Science (BSc), mostly taught in German, covering engineering, science, architecture, etc.

Master’s Degree: 4 semesters, 120 credits, awarded Master of Science (MSc), engineering programs also award Diplom-Ingenieur (Dipl.-Ing.), many programs are taught in English for international students.

Doctoral Degree: Research-oriented, culminating in a dissertation and academic achievements, awarded Doktor der Technischen Wissenschaften (Dr.techn.) or Doktor der Naturwissenschaften (Dr.rer.nat.), the highest research degree.
